Sometimes the Warmest Choice Is the Hardest One

There’s something about this season, the way the air crisps, the way lights soften the long nights, the way community feels just a little closer that reminds us how deeply we need one another. Winter asks us to gather, to give, to show up in warmth when the world gets cold.

And that’s why this message feels especially tender to share.

After thoughtful and careful consideration, the decision has been made to cancel this year’s Lethbridge Christmas Feast.

This decision was made with care, intention, and a heavy heart. This event has always been about generosity, dignity, connection, and the simple human magic of sharing a meal. But at this time, we do not have the capacity required to ensure that the event could be delivered successfully, safely, and with the integrity our community deserves.

Sometimes real care looks like stepping forward.
And sometimes, hard as it is, it looks like stepping back.

In honoring the well-being of those we serve, our volunteers, and our team, we chose the path that protects the quality of our programs rather than stretching beyond what we can realistically and responsibly offer this season.

However, the program is still moving ahead in the Foothills area. If you or someone you know in Okotoks, High River, Nanton, Cayley, Claresholm, Dewinton, or Diamond Valley (and surrounding rural areas) could truly benefit from this gesture, please nominate them.
And if you feel called, we would be grateful for your support, whether through a donation of cash, toys, gift cards, or time. Your generosity helps keep this tradition alive, where it is still possible to serve with care.

The spirit of the Christmas Feast has always been rooted in love, service, and meeting people where they are. We remain deeply committed to that mission. This year, that commitment means refocusing our time, energy, and resources so that we can continue to show up in meaningful ways now and in the seasons ahead.

Your support, understanding, and trust mean more than we can express.
Thank you for holding space with us as we navigate this moment with honesty and heart.

From our hearts to yours: May you find warmth in surprising places, kindness in familiar ones, and hope woven through the winter days ahead.

Be Well.
